WHITE JUNK fashion pop up shop THE DAY!

The eagerly awaited S.T.A.G Studio fashion pop up shop, Aberdeen’s most fashionable event returned to the great, Granite City on Saturday 12th November. On this day we took over Korova Klub on Bridge Street armed with 30 meters of white honey parc and a staple gun we set up at 9am.

The White Junk pop up shop was run to promote independent fashion design throughout Aberdeen and connect the wonderous design talent we have to offer here in in the city and throughout the shire.
With so much talent thriving amongst the city we feel the best way to show off a slice of the talent was to hold our second pop up shop; giving you the opportunity to buy selective pieces and have a meet and greet with the designers!

After a little bit of “borrowing” traffic cones, wheels typewriters, old suitcase and anything else we could nab – the theme of the day was set. With music filling the 3 rooms and the lighting strategically placed the atmosphere was cosy and relaxing, a bit like walking into a messy version of granny’s living room!

We opened the doors at 1pm and let the fashion folk flock in! We had many fashion designers – including the work of KMK, recent Grays graduates; Carolyn Edmondson; heather Grant; Hannah Duncan. Along with the work of Jaime Johnston and our very own label Fawnd of. Show casing its Winter 2011 collection and was very well received by all. Our new and improved hand dyed knitted jumpers in luxurious colours were finished off nicely with a bit of studded detailing. With new printed t-shirts adorned with a grumpy old looking stag with a ginger moustache and an organic moth print on a mustard peach skin slouchy fit dress – both prints designed by our good friend Iain MacDonald!

Jewellery designers were out in storm with Kelly McAllister, Ashley Morris and Sheena Antoinette Seago– all offering something unique and different.

If fashion and jewellery weren’t your thing we also had visual communication student Alison Bell come along and show her up-cyled vintage wears – with cheeky sayings mixed with an eclectic feel it was hard not to buy her whole stall!

Glasgow School of Art Graduate Kevin Morris showcased his range of ceramic birds and birdhouse, not to mention a gorgeous stag head! Amy Donaldson was a newcomer to the group, however didn’t fail to excite with her collection of candle filled t cups, quirk prints and glitzy boutqets!

But it wasn’t all SHOP SHOP SHOP! Zen Spa applied body art, talons taking care of by Luscious Nails and makeovers by Katie Isaac. We also got to take advantage of FREE hairstyling by Profile Hair of Aberdeen who were offering customers a massive 50% OFF hairstyling in their salon for them month of November. A-MAZ-ING!

And who kept us fed and watered throughout the day? Hannah bakes Cakes of course – dish delish my fav was the chocolate orange cupcake YUM! And our very own S.T.A.G apple cocktail was on tap, created and served on ice by the Korova staff.

If you didn’t manage the day then please take a look at some moving images of the day and check out our film by the talented Richie Mac –

We would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the day and to all that came! Including out Style hunter and photographer Sam Copeland

Hope you had a good as time as we did!

Lots of love E and T from S.T.A.G Studio xxx
